Start with the work happening on the floor
A warehouse needs more than a stock total. Staff need to know where to receive, where to pick, what remains unfulfilled and what to do when the expected item is absent. The useful comparison is how the proposed configuration handles those decisions for your team.
Descartes Finale's pricing page separates Essentials and Growth, with a Mobile Barcode WMS module included in Growth. It describes receiving, picking, counts and transfers among scanning workflows. Give both vendors the same picking problem
Use a fictional order for six lines, with one item split across two shelves and another short by one unit. Ask the picker to begin, report the shortage and finish the available portion without accidentally closing the entire order. Then ask a supervisor to explain what remains outstanding.
Observe whether the task requires a desk-based intervention, a second application or permission the picker should not normally hold. None of those outcomes is automatically unacceptable. They become a problem when nobody owns them or their frequency makes the workflow impractical. Record the number of handoffs in your actual demonstration instead of accepting a general speed claim.
Test the channel and warehouse boundary
A sales-channel connection can transfer orders without resolving every fulfillment exception. Ask which system controls available-to-sell quantity, how reservations affect it and when a shipment is reported back. Introduce a cancellation after picking begins and ask how the goods return to availability.
If you use two warehouses, show an order that could ship from either. Ask who chooses the source and how an inter-warehouse transfer differs from an external shipment. inFlow's product comparison establishes inventory, purchasing and sales coverage; it does not settle these particular integration rules. Require evidence for both vendors' proposed configurations and keep unsupported cases open.
Cost and fit: choose the supported configuration
Request a quote containing the barcode module or add-ons, users, warehouses, integrations, onboarding and support assumptions. Use the same operating volumes. A higher starting price may include work you otherwise buy separately, but do not assume it is better value until the scope is comparable.
Finale is a poor shortlist fit if its proposed implementation exceeds your budget and the extra execution tools solve no current problem. inFlow is a poor fit if the demonstrated configuration leaves mandatory warehouse exceptions in an unmaintained side process. Avoid declaring either generally superior. Select the one that passes the essential workflows and gives your team a clear route to corrections, reconciliation and export. Retain the demonstration results so the eventual onboarding can be checked against what was sold.
